- Recycling Amnesty Events
KCB hosts FIVE county-wide recycling amnesty events each year. We need the volunteer help with traffic directions, taking surveys, and unloading the recyclables. - Litter Events
From driving around Carroll County to assess litter to Annual Litter CLeanups, the litter events serve as an education and a means to an end to trash problems! - Litter Programs
Our adoption programs require a year-long commitment and monthly (Adopt-A-Trail on Carrollton GreenBelt) or quarterly (Adopt-A-Road) visits to the assigned site. - Community Gardens and Beautification
Start a community garden, help us take care of a green space, or revamp a tired spot in your community.
Recycling Amnesty Events:
With our community partners, KCB hosts FIVE county-wide recycling amnesty events each year. We need the volunteer help with traffic directions, taking surveys, and unloading the recyclables.
The events typically last 5 hours from set-up to break-down (divided into two 2.5-hour shifts),
Electronics-Recycling – an event focused on collecting old electronic devices. Spring and Fall. Collection sites in Carrollton and Villa Rica. Free to the public.
Tired of Tires – a vehicle tire amnesty. Free to the public (up to 10 tires). A small fee for extra material.
Household Hazardous Waste & Paper Shredding – a collection event for the disposal of household pesticides, paint and solvent-based products, and other harmful chemicals. Paper Shredding helps recycle sensitive paper documents like tax and financial forms or medical files. Free to the public.
Litter Events:
Community Appearance Index
The Community Appearance Index (formerly Litter Index) is an audit of roadside litter conducted on 10% of Carroll County roads. Each of the six County Commission Districts consists of a designated route with TEN sections to be assessed. The routes do not change year to year, giving us insight into the letter trends and allowing us to map and plan litter cleanups.
New! I Heart Carroll County Day
(I💚CC). A special one-day cleanup event that focuses on neighborhoods and the most littered roads in Carroll County. Volunteers can organize local cleanups or be assigned to roads selected during the Community Appearance Index.
New! Neighborhood Cleanups.Â
Expanding on our existing litter prevention activities, the new resident-driven program will supply volunteers with tools and protective gear and help with the removal of large items that add to overall blight in our communities. Many residents do not have the means to address objects like sheds that fell in disrepair or old vehicles.Â
Great GreenBelt Cleanup
(GGCU). GGCU is a spring-cleaning celebration of the Carrollton GreenBelt Trail where members of the public get the trail ready for warm weather.
Litter and Beautification Programs:
We welcome individuals, families, churches, social groups, schools, scout troops, community organizations, and businesses. The volunteer opportunities can accommodate all ages and physical abilities. While sometimes we need help lifting and carrying computer equipment or tires, we also need help directing traffic and taking surveys. We organize roadside trash cleanups but also have opportunities for groups with young children who can clean parks and playgrounds to stay far away from traffic.
Grab your family, friends, and neighbors and make a difference today!
Most of our adoption programs require a year-long commitment and monthly or quarterly visits to the selected site.
Adopt-A-Trail
The Adopt-A-Trail initiative is a great way for individuals, families, and organizations to get involved with the Carrollton GreenBelt by supplementing the maintenance efforts of the City of Carrollton Parks Department. Carrollton community is invited to take responsibility for the trail by performing simple tasks that include picking up litter, reporting repair needs, and cleaning trail signage.
Adopt-A-Road
Keep Carroll Beautiful’s Adopt-A-Road Program (AAR) organizes and manages volunteer activities that focus on removing litter from Carroll County roads. AAR volunteers can be individuals, families, social or community groups, and businesses who visit a 1-mile section of an assigned road at least 4 times per year to clean litter.
Adopt-A-Garden
Start a community garden, take care of a single bed in an existing one, or revamp a tired spot in your community!
