Bring One for the Chipper!

Christmas is over and your live tree needs to go… but where? There are several ways of disposing of Christmas trees – but first, make sure to remove all the ornaments and lights.

Carroll County Convenience Center

Take your tree to the Carroll County Convenience Center near you. You do not have to cut the tree into 4-foot sections – just drop it off in a designated area of the center. For locations, check out Carroll Co. Convenience Center Guide.

Local debris pickup

If your trash service provides debris pickup, they will take your tree! Leave the tree out the same way you would yard debris.

Garden mulch

You can use layers of branches to protect your plants from frost. When mulched, spruce, pine, and cypress chips will be especially beneficial for azaleas. blueberries and other low-PH-loving plants.

Wildlife habitat

Whole trees placed in lakes and ponds create beautiful fish habitats! Check with your neighbors – they may be looking for trees. Trees and branches also shelter birds, insects, and other small animals, so drop it off in the wooded area of your property.
